In 2020, I got very heavily into 2 things: craft cocktails at home, and rewatching Sex and the City. 3 years later, I’m over here making my own orgeat and listening to Every Outfit on Sex and the City. Some things never change. As an over-the-top pomegranate stan, the only thing that can improve the classic cosmopolitan, to me, is to substitute the cranberry juice for the smoother, juicier pomegranate. A pomegranate cosmopolitan is perfect to throw together for a self-care night or batch on a night when you invite 3 of your closest friends over to wear ridiculous outfits and make outdated observations about relationships.

Tips for Making a Pomegranate Cosmo
Thanks to the easily available ingredients, pomegranate cosmos are perfect for those looking to get into cocktails. Most of the ingredients and tools are part of a well-stocked bar. Still, take these few things into consideration before you make a pomegranate cosmopolitan.
To Batch or Not to Batch
Thanks to its relatively equal parts, you can easily adjust this recipe up for a crowd. To do so, I recommend first pouring all ingredients into a pitcher. Then, pour ingredients into a shaker filled with ice, shake, and pour into frozen martini glasses until all are full.
Ingredients for 8 cosmos:
- 2 c vodka
- 1 c clear orange liqueur (such as triple sec)
- 1 c pomegranate juice
- 1/2 c lime juice (about 4 limes)
- Sliced or dried limes for garnish
A Note on Garnishes
A bright green lime perfectly offsets the deep ruby red of this drink. Plus, thanks to the lime juice, it blends in well with the flavors. The classic way to garnish the drink is the cut a small slit in a lime wedge and perch it on the rim of the glass. Additionally, you can set a dried lime to float on the top, or peel off a section of lime rind, twirl it into a rose, and stick it through a toothpick.
