Homemade Blueberry Lemonade
As a native Southerner, I know sweet tea reigns supreme, but there truly is nothing like a big glass of lemonade on a hot day. While we’re all pining for cooler weather, cool down with this shockingly easy (and outrageously delicious) blueberry lemonade.
This recipe is completely built around ease. 6 oz is a standard berry package size in the US, and you can grab a 15 oz bottle of pre-squeezed lemon juice and save your wrists the trouble of juicing by hand. Once you get the hang of this recipe, you can easily make it in under 10 minutes (plus cooling time).
Blueberry Lemonade Ingredients
2 c sugar
4 c water
2 c lemon juice
1 large lemon
6 oz of blueberries
Blueberry Lemonade Equipment
Saucepan

Large Bowl

Blueberry Lemonade Steps
In a saucepan on the stove, continuously stir and heat the sugar and water until sugar has dissolved (the mixture will be clear with a slightly golden tint). Turn off the heat, and set aside to cool (put it in the fridge if serving soon).
In your blender, combine blueberries and 15 oz (just shy of 2 cups) lemon juice. Zest one large lemon into the mixture. Juice your newly naked lemon into the blender.
Blend the mixture until it’s smooth and combined (about a minute). Place the strainer over the bowl, and pour the blueberry mixture through it. Use a spoon to stir the mixture around in the strainer and ensure all the lemony goodness makes it into the bowl.
Combine the blueberry-lemon juice mixture and the sugar water into the pitcher and stir to combine. Garnish with fresh mint or basil, and enjoy!
Note: the mixture will likely still be slightly warm, if serving immediately be sure to use lots of ice.
Once you get the hang of the basic lemonade recipe, the sky is the limit! I’ve made peach, watermelon, and strawberry lemonade so far, and there’s no end in sight!
